China - September 2006

Photos by Walt & Gloria Fogler-Mancini

Suzhou has over 100 classical Chinese gardens and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Many gardens date back to the 15th and 16th centuries.  A Chinese proverb says:  “In Heaven there is paradise; on Earth, Suzhou.”  These pictures are from the Master of the Nets Garden and the most impressive Humble Administrator’s Garden.

Suzhou is also famous for its silk industry.  Our tour went to the Silk Embroidery Research Institute.

The photographs were taken with Leica cameras, the D-LUX 2 and R9 with a digital back.  If you have questions or are interested in prints or copies of these or other images from China, please e-mail us at                                                                             wgfm
